Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) Hails Lok Sabha Election Results

GUWAHATI: Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) has welcomed the verdict of the electorate in the recent parliamentary elections. According to President Pabitra Buragohain, the decisive mandate will ensure stability and provide opportunity to the central government to carry forward economic reforms initiative by them in the last five years, which will have a far reaching social impact.

The "Act East Policy" needs to be implemented with full vigour to bring about a major focus towards international trade & commerce from NER with the ASEAN countries.

According to a press release, he said that the state governments of the region and the Centre can now work in tandem and ensure implementation of policies and schemes to bring about a transformation in the North Eastern region which will attract investments in industry, generate employment and develop an ecosystem for entrepreneurship for the youth.

Vice President Bajrang Lohia, emphasized on the need for smooth execution of North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) after a thorough review of its provisions and bringing amendments as have been suggested by FINER in the form of memorandum submitted to the Ministry of Industry & Commerce and Ministry of DoNER. A more concentrated focus on "Ease of Doing Business" towards which the government is already dedicated, is the need of the hour. He said that the region can flourish in commerce given the necessary infrastructure in logistics and connectivity. An investment in these sectors is the key to generating large scale employment.

FINER is of the view that with enormous resources in terms of raw materials and talent , the region can make huge progress once the policies and schemes are streamlined and rigorously implemented with close monitoring.

FINER, on behalf of the Industry fraternity, extends its heartiest congratulations to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, convenor of NEDA Himanta Biswa Sarma and the newly elected members of parliament from the region and assures its deep commitment and cooperation towards rapid industrial development of the region.
