Financial aid given to 30 journalists under Journalists Medical Welfare Scheme in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, July 26: Under the Journalists Medical Welfare Scheme, the Department of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) has approved a sum of Rs 12,30,000 to be provided as financial aid for medical related issues to 30 journalists including their respective family relatives of the state, a communiqué said. The approval was made on Thursday in a meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary KS Krishna.

At the outset of the meeting, IPR Director Rajib Prakash Barua informed the gathering of officers that so far 150 journalists and their respective family members have been benefitted under the initiative and added that Rs 69.35 lakh has been released as financial aid for their medical care.

Notably, during the meeting, these 30 journalists were selected for financial aid considering the medical expanse incurred by them and based on severity and symptoms out of the 34 medical related applications received.
