FINER organizes food processing seminar in Guwahati city

 GUWAHATI: The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) under the aegis of the Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Government of India organized a food processing seminar, themed ‘Harnessing the potential of Food Processing in NER for a healthier nation’.

The inauguration session was graced by distinguished personalities from various sectors, including Ranjana Bhajanka, Director of FINER, who warmly welcomed the guests and participants. The event witnessed enlightening addresses from Uttam Saikia, General Manager, District Industry and Commerce Centre, Government of Assam, Morteza Ahmed, Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam, and Piyush Kumar, Nodal Officer, Government E Market, who shared their insights on the significant role of food processing in the region’s development. The session was concluded by Surendra Chowkhani, Director of FINER, who expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming participation and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts for a prosperous future.

The technical session was equally engaging, featuring presentations from distinguished experts in the field. Shri Gunin Roy, a renowned Millet Specialist from the Arias Society, enlightened the audience on the production, harvest, and numerous benefits of millets, emphasizing their potential to contribute to a healthier nation. Following this, Shri. Trishanku Barman, Marketing Manager of PMFME Scheme, AIDC Ltd, shared valuable insights into the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, which aims to empower local food processors and promote sustainable growth.

Sanchit Jain, a consultant from E&Y, presented on the Government E Market (GeM), showcasing the platform’s instrumental role in boosting food processing-related businesses and fostering collaborations between government and private enterprises. The session concluded with a detailed presentation from Jayanta Kr. Sharma, a Packaging and Branding Specialist, who shed light on the critical aspects of branding and packaging, underscoring their significance in enhancing product value and market reach. During the event FINER and Government E Market signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
