FIR lodged against ACS Topper’s Husband over alleged kidnapping attempt in Guwahati

Guwahati: Family dispute turns messy after one ACS Topper Maria Tanim’s father alleged that his son-in-law along with South Karimganj AIUDF legislator Aziz Ahmed Khan made an attempt to kidnap her daughter on Friday in Guwahati.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, officer-in-charge, Latasil Police Station, Bhupen Kalita said, “The father of the ACS Topper Maria Tanim claimed that AIUDF MLA Aziz Ahmed Khan along with his brother and husband of the ACS topper namely Azad Khan attempted to meet his daughter who was living separately from her husband from past one year. We got to know that Maria Tanim along with her father went for some medical tests at the office of the Joint Director for Health. The matter got intensified thereafter.”

It was the father of the ACS topper who reportedly didn’t allow the couple to meet each other, informed OC Kalita.

An FIR was lodged by the father of the ACS Topper Maria Tanim against his son-in-law at Latasil Police Station against his son-in-law charging them for murder and kidnapping (case no 309/18 under section 143/323/506/365/511 of the Indian Penal Code).

On the other side, a counter case was lodged by the son-in-law and AIUDF legislator for South Karimganj against the father of the ACS topper Maria Tanim at Latasil Police Station for restraining the lady forcibly in the home (case no 312/18 under section 341/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code).

It may be mentioned that ACS Topper Maria Tanim was living separately from his husband following an alleged dowry incident.

No arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.
