FIR lodged Against Bank of India

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 13: Alleging that the Bank of India (BoI)’s Zoo Road branch has been harassing him over a couple of months on account of a pendency of loan, Rashtriya Yuva Morcha, Assam Pradesh president Rajib Kakati said that he will move the imbroglio to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing, Banking Ombudsman and CBI. Talking to the reporters in a press meet at Guwahati Press Club on Thursday, Rajib stressed that he will also bring the matter to the knowledge of the district administration.

Notably, the Zoo Road branch of BoI claimed that a loan amounting to Rs 1 crore has been pending against Rajib Kakati which was allegedly released in 2013. Hence, the BoI officials of the Zoo Road branch have been pressing Rajib Kakati for early recovery.

On the contrary, terming the claim as forged, Rajib Kakati lodged an FIR at the Geetanagar police station on July 2 last following which a case (No 232/18 u/s 385 IPC) was registered. However, Rajib said that the investigation is yet to gain progress.

Arguing as to why the banking institution sanctioned the loan amount to him without a mortgage, Rajib further questioned, “If the loan amount of Rs 1 crore was released against me, why the BoI maintained silence over so many years without reminding delay in my repayment in between the loan period?”

Rajib further revealed that the PAN Card submitted aagainst the loan, shows the loanee’s name as Rajiv Kakoti. Similarly, the father’s name of the loanee has been shown as Tani Kakoti while Rajib Kakati’s late father’s original name was Paniram Kakati. Considering all these abnormality, Rajib said, “I will move the matter to the higher investigative agencies for justice.”
