GUWAHATI: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to complete the first anniversary of its second term on Saturday. Recently, the BJP led coalition government of the State also completed four years of its tenure.

In this regard, under the direction of BJP president JP Nadda, the State BJP has planned a detailed outreach programme to highlight the achievements of the Central and the State governments during their tenure. The State BJP has formed a team comprising of 6 divisions having 2 members each to highlight the achievements in front of the public.

Talking to The Sentinel, party general secretary Pulak Gohain said that as a part of the outreach programme, the BJP's booth level workers will distribute booklets to around 50 lakh households of the State by following the lockdown norms. The booklets will have two copies which will mention the highlights of the Central and the State governments and also emphasize on the recently announced Rs 20 lakh crore economic package. It is to be mentioned that there around 28,000 booth level committees in the State.

The lockdown imposed in the wake of coronavirus has put a restriction on political gatherings. Thus it has prompted the BJP to take the help of technology to reach to the masses.

Gohain said that the party will hold 'virtual rallies' which aim to cover around 25,000 people in every address. In the rallies, the speaker will be able to address the people from a mancha (stage) which will present the appeal of a traditional rally.

Gohain added that the State BJP will hold press meets in five zones – Guwahati, Barpeta, Silchar, Sonitpur, Jorhat or Dibrugarh. It will also form WhatsApp groups of 250 people each, in every booth level committee. The WhatsApp groups will include the 19-member committee of each booth, supporters and prominent persons. The government's achievements and the party's developmental works will be posted on the WhatsApp groups.

On Saturday, president JP Nadda will address the people by delivering a speech which will go live across various social media platforms. The government has also directed its 8 Manchas to carry out sanitization drives and distribute masks and sanitizers among the needy persons.
