Five Tenants having criminal record arrested by Chandmari police in Guwahati

Guwahati: In a major drive against the rise in criminal activities in the Guwahati city, Chandmari Police on Tuesday detained around 91 tenants from Bhaskarnagar area and Maila Tanky area for questioning.

Asstt. Commissioner of Police (Chandmari) Guwahati, Putul Ch. Baishya informed the Sentinel Digital that Chandmari police have detained several tenants in order to cross verify their background.

Notably, none of the tenants have submitted their valid documents before the police station so far.

Meanwhile, five people have been arrested for having extensive criminal records. A case was registered against them, later, they were forwarded to jail.

On the other hand, the rest 86 tenants were released after a thorough interrogation and were asked to fill up the Tenant Verification Forms.

ACP Putul Ch. Baishya also informed that the city police will continue its operation drives against unauthorized tenants and are residing across the police districts of Guwahati city.
