GUWAHATI: Iqbal Ali, a drug peddler, succumbed to the fatal injuries which he had sustained while evading arrest on Saturday night.

According to CID sources, a team of CID sleuths raided the Rehabari residence of Iqbal Ali on the night of Saturday. When Iqbal found no way out to escape his arrest, he made an abortive bid to jump on the roof of a neighbouring house from the fourth floor of the building he was staying.

However, while doing the stunning escape he fell on a concrete drain and received fatal injuries. The CID sleuths and the local people soon admitted him to a nursing home immediately where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The CID seized 32 bottles of drugs and Rs 10,738 from the house of Iqbal Ali. The CID also arrested two other youths – Arif Rahman and Imdadul Hussain – who went to buy drugs from Iqbal. Rs 21,310 was seized from the duo.
