Foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 6 lakh seized from Rajdhani Express

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) today recovered a large cache of foreign cigarettes from the Rajdhani Express.

According to report, a RPF team conducted routine checking against hawkers, beggars, unauthorized vendors and anti-social elements in the Guwahati Railway Station today. During checking, the 12423 Dn Rajdhani Express arrived at Guwahati Railway Station.

In course of checking inside the train, the RPF team recovered an unclaimed black colour trunk in coach no. B-10 (KYQ Side) in the vestibule section between B-10 and B-11. No one came forward to claim the trunk. On the basis of suspicion when the RPF team opened the trunk and checked properly, they found many bundles of suspected foreign-origin cigarettes.

The value of the seized cigarettes is Rs 6 lakh. The trunk and the seized items were handed over to the Customs, Guwahati division.
