Former Congress Members Join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

GUWAHATI: A joining programme was organized at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan at State BJP Head Quarters in Hengrabari on Monday, where few former Congress members formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of NEDA Convenor and State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The members joining the saffron party included former NSUI President Bibhuti Bhusan Borthakur, Netranjan Mahanta, among others.

Bibhuti Bhusan Borthakur criticizing the Congress party stated that he resigned due to the party’s secret alliance with the AIUDF. During the programme, while addressing the media, NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Congress leaders have always been hankering for a safe seat during polls. The party has always made use of the minority community as a vote bank. I urge them to stand up and protest for their rights. The party’s President Rahul Gandhi is walking towards an absolute defeate.” Later, the party inaugurated the state BJP’s newsletter Axom BJP Barta, where senior party leaders along with Himanta Biswa Sarma were present.
