GUWAHATI: The former general secretary of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha (NBMM) and the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (NBMSP) Mangal Babu Sinha passed away at a private hospital in Guwahati on Monday. He was taken to Guwahati from Silchar for better treatment.
Born on July 30,1952 to Late Madhu Babu Sinha and Late Senu Sinha; Mangal Babu Sinha had his school and college education at Silchar and master’s in Sanskrit from Gauhati University. He retired as the in-charge principal of Narsing Higher Secondary School, Silchar.
Late Sinha was a devoted researcher of the Bishnupriya Manipuri language. He had to his credit Bishnupriya Manipuri Itihas and Bishnupriya Manipuri Bashatatvar Samiksha in three parts. According to Bishnupriya Manipuri Writers’ Forum (BMWF) president DILS Lakshmindra Sinha, who condoled the death of the research scholar, Mangal Badu Sinha submitted his research paper (thesis) to Kurukshetra University, but the outcome is still awaited. Apart from being an academician, Late Mangal Babu Sinha was also a Manipuri dance exponent having done Nipun (Master’s) in the classical dance form. Late Sinha lived a life fully devoted to social works, be it in the NBMM or in the NBMSP. Kali Prasad Darshan condoled the demise of the scholar.
