Forming An Independent Committee Is The Only Way To Save Indigenous: Upamanyu Hazarika

GUWAHATI: “Guwahati and Assam need a strong bold voice in Lok Sabha, a voice which echoes the real sentiments of the people, a voice which makes a difference and I am committed”, asserted Prabajan Virodhi Manch supported Independent Candidate from No 7 Lok Sabha Constituency, Upamanyu Hazarika.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Upamanyu Hazarika highlighted certain burning issues of the state before the public. The first issue was problem of Bangladeshi infiltration followed by the continued inclination towards the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Bill.

“It is a matter of great shame and tragedy for the people of Assam and citizens of India that 70 thousand declared foreigners have found their way in the NRC as well as electoral polls. All the three major political parties have indigenous leaders at their helm and they occupy such position by virtue of representing the majority indigenous communities but have shown no hesitation in betraying their own people”, Upamanyu Hazarika said.

Claiming that the political parties have made a mockery of the entire NRC process, Hazarika informed that the only way left was to form an independent committee to save the indigenous people from becoming a minority in Assam and to ensure their survival in the future.
