Foundation Stone Laid  for Wildlife Conservation at Assam State Zoo

GUWAHATI, Aug 28: State’s Chief Secretary, TY Das laid the foundation stone of a project on development and promotion of ex situ conservation of wild animals in Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden on Tuesday under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity of Airport Authority of India (AAI), Guwahati.

In a meeting held at the Herbarium hall of the Zoo, the Chief Secretary said that the laid project will go a long way in improving the Zoo premises. She also suggested the Zoo authority to visit other zoological gardens located in different parts of the country and to bring improvement.

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Assam NK Baso, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M) Virendra Mittal and General Manager, AAI Radha Krishna besides other dignitaries. Notably, the laid project includes underlying of cables, lighting and construction of visitors’ footpath at a cost of Rs. 2.3 crores.
