Fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY being celebrated in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of completion of four years of successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY), the National Health Authority (NHA) which is the implementing Authority has been organizing 'Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara' from September 15 September 30 to increase awareness about AB-PMJAY amongst the beneficiaries.

Atal Amrit Abhiyan Society (AAAS), which is the State Health Agency (SHA) for implementation of PMJAY in Assam, has been also organizing various activities as a part of this celebration in the State, stated an official communiqué.

The AAAS organized a State Ayushman Bharat Diwas at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara here, which was attended by Assam's Health & Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta as Chief Guest. The Chief Executive Officer of AAAS, Dr Siddharth Singh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AAAS, KamaljitTalukdar, principal of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Dr Achyut Baishya and senior dignitaries and participants from the various Government and private hospitals of Guwahati were also present in the programme.

Various events and activities were also held across the districts under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioners to commemorate the 4th anniversary of AB-PMJAY.

Speaking on the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the scheme is on its way to become more inclusive in the State by adopting the National Food Security Act database as its Beneficiary database. The Minister further informed that under the new arrangement all families under National Food Security Act will now be eligible for cashless medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family.

A panel discussion on "Impact of PMJAY in Health Care Delivery System" was also held during the programme, in which eminent doctors from Government and private hospitals of the city participated.
