Fraudster arrested by Bhangagarh Police for duping a woman on pretext of marriage
The Bhangagarh Police on Tuesday night arrested a fraudster for duping a woman on the pretext of marriage.
GUWAHATI: The Bhangagarh Police on Tuesday night arrested a fraudster for duping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused, Jitu Roy alias Dharmeswar Roy (38) is a resident of Baihata Chariali and he was arrested after a case was lodged by the victim woman, who is a resident of Sixmile here. According to a police source, Roy duped the victim woman's mother to the tune of Rs 4 lakh. He promised the victim that he will marry her however, he hid that he is already married. The police source stated that earlier, Roy was lodged in jail four times in connection to different cases. The source added that Roy was jailed for collecting money from commercial vehicles by impersonating a high-level police officer. In another case, he impersonated as a forest official and duped money from people on the pretext of providing jobs.
