GUWAHATI, Aug 16: The Mother Old Age Home located at Bamunimaidam observed the 72nd Independence Day on August 15 amidst participation by various city-based social organizations. Subhadra Devi (102), an elderly boarder of the old age home, unfurled the national flag during the occasion. Recalling those bygone days of the freedom struggle, Devi said, “I myself prepared and distributed roti and khichdi to the freedom fighters. My brother and sister were also deeply involved in the movement. Later, they were provided Freedom Fighters’ Pension.” On the I-Day, the boarders were accompanied and mesmerized by representatives from Lions Club Guwahati and another social organization, Upahar. Presently, there are more than 60 boarders at Mother Old Age Home.
