GUWAHATI: The GAD (General Administration Department) has clarified that its corrigendum published on December 30, 2021, was to correct the Assamese dates of some holidays/restricted holidays. The GAD said that some quarters wrongly interpreted the corrigendum on social media.

The wrong interpretation made the department refer to its earlier notification of October 28, 2021, and clarify that (i) the Id-Ul- Zuha (a holiday) is on July 10, 2022, which corresponds to Ahar 25, and not Ahar 24 as published, in the Assamese calendar (Bhaskarabda-1429). (ii) Likewise, the death anniversary of Bishnu Prasad Rabha (a restricted holiday) is on June 20, 2022, which corresponds to Ahar 5, and not Ahar 4 as published earlier; (iii) Hul Divas (a restricted holiday) is on June 30, 2022, which corresponds to Ahar 15, and not Ahar 14 as published earlier; and (iv) the birthday of Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakt Acharya on July 13, 2022, which corresponds to Ahar 28, and not Ahar 27.
