Gang of thieves busted in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A gang of thieves have been operative in Guwahati over the years. What is significant is that the gang has been staying in a rented house in the Kahilipara area. It is Bhagaduttapur Police Outpost that unmasked the gang. The police caught four members of the gang last night. They are Sahidul Islam of Suparbhitha, Salman Ahmed of Haldobari, Jaharul Islam and Ramena Begum from Lakhipur in the Goalpara district. Yusuf Ali, the husband of Ramena Begum, is absconding.

The police recovered eight gold rings, four silver anklets, a TV set, a laptop set, a set-top box, three music systems, a DVR, etc. The police also recovered a console, a pistol-looking gas lighter and tool for opening doors etc. The police registered a case (1875/2022 u/s 380 IPC) in this regard at Dispur Police Station.
