Ganja Worth 25 kg seized at Railway Station in Guwahati

Guwahati: On Saturday, Guwahati Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered suspected Ganja (cannabis) approximately 25 kg during a checking at 20505 Down Rajdhani Express (Coach No A/3) at around 5.30 am.

A person identified as Pappu Singh (43) was apprehended in connection with the incident.

Reportedly, the person is a resident of Bibiganj Bihar of Udyant Nagar under Bhojpur District.

Speaking to the media, Government Railway Police informed the media that the accused had bought the suspected Ganja from Dimapur and was supposed to deliver the same at Ara in Bihar.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident under Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.

Interestingly, another case was registered on December 4, when the Guwahati team of Government Railway Police (GRP) seized at least 50 kgs of Cannabis (Ganja) from down Rajdhani Express train (12423) from Coach Number A1, berth number 1/3 in the morning hours.

The GRP had arrested two persons in connection with the case. The accused person identified as Chitranjan Gupta (55) and Madhu Gupta (40).

Both the accused had boarded the train from Dimapur and were heading towards New Delhi.

It may also be mentioned that Chitranjan Gupta is a resident of 215 G Block, Mangolpuri under North West Delhi district and Madhu Gupta wife of late Amit Gupta is a resident of U- 98 Mangolpuri North lock, Saraswati Bihar under West Delhi district.

A case was registered in connection with the incident.

It may be mentioned that the Guwahati Railway Station has turned into a hub for Ganja dealers. Reports also claim that several people were being arrested at the Guwahati Railway Station since past few months for carrying Ganja (cannabis) with them.

GRP officials had recovered several kilos of Ganja (cannabis) which are reportedly bought from Dimapur in Nagaland. These Ganja are then being exported to other parts of the nation via Guwahati.

Recently, based on a tip-off, GRP officials managed to solve many such cases.

It may further be mentioned that at least 12 kg of suspected Ganja had been seized at Railway Platform No 4 at Guwahati Railway Station on Thursday.
