GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has formulated some procedures which are to be followed by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunals in Assam.

According to a circular issued by the Registrar General of Gauhati High Court, the Presiding Officer of the Tribunal is to notify daily in the notice board of the Tribunal and district website the case numbers against which the insurance companies/opposite parties have deposited the compensation amounts. The compensation amounts and names of parties are also to be indicated against the case numbers.

A register must be maintained in the office of the Tribunals regarding receipt of compensation amounts from insurance companies/ opposite parties indicating case numbers, name of parties, date of receipt, etc.

Necessary note is to be made in the case record as soon as the compensation amount is deposited against the same and notice may be issued to the claimant intimating the deposit of compensation amount. The Presiding officer of the Tribunal should submit a report fortnightly to the High Court mentioning the steps taken under the above clauses.
