Gauhati High Court gives time for response to claim of faulty FIR copies

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has accepted the State Government's request for three weeks' time to respond to the claim that copies of FIRs submitted to the petitioner in the fake encounters case have not been registered in terms of the requirements laid down by the Supreme Court.

The court, however, observed that the claim made by the petitioner, Arif Md Yeasin Jwadder, "can be considered at the appropriate stage."

Hearing of the matter will resume on June 7 next.
