GUWAHATI: Amid the lockdown, Radio Luit, the Community Radio Station of Gauhati University is broadcasting on Facebook to connect with the community.

Talking to The Sentinel programme executive of Radio Luit Bhaskar Jyoti Acharjya said, "As the radio station is run by the radio activists who are the students of the university itself, our broadcasting stopped from March 24 due to lockdown. However we can't force the nearby students to come to the university campus and to broadcast programmes at this situation. Thus the idea of using the social media platform Facebook came to our mind and we resumed our service from April 7."

Asharjya added, "Now we are going live everyday for one hour where we podcast different segments. However, we have witnessed that the students have turned more active these days. Now they are coming with new ideas and content and have become active participant." One of the Radio Activists Parashar Kalita who is a PG student of the university said, "We are operating Radio Luit from our home during the lockdown period because we can't go to the university in view the current situation. We go live in Facebook everyday from 6 pm to 7 pm. The quality of content is the main thing that we are currently focusing on so as to spread positivity among the people."
