GUWAHATI: The postgraduate students of Gauhati University (GU) are set to witness an interesting contest during their upcoming Postgraduate Students' Union (PGSU) election. The stage is prepared for the candidates to speak up and seek votes.

This year, the polls nominations began on November 22, 2021. The polling will take place on November 30, 2021. As per notifications, Rajdeep Baruah, Jitu Kalita, and Biki Sarmah are contesting for the post of general secretary this year while Suman Sarmah, Hemanga Nath, and Hemen Kalita will contest for the president's post.

Four candidates are contesting for the vice-president's post while three candidates are contesting for the post of assistant general secretary. Two candidates have submitted their names for the literary secretary's position.

Moreover, three candidates have submitted their names for music secretary and two candidates for the cultural secretary's position. All total, 14 candidates will be contesting for various posts in the election.
