GUWAHATI: The Gauhati University (GU) authorities have issued a notice urging people and organizations not to visit the university in connection to the recruitment interview conducted by GU for appointment of PwD candidates under the Government of Assam.

The notice stated, "This is to inform to all concerned that from some days it has been observed that some people and organizations are visiting Gauhati University in connection with the recruitment interview conducted by Gauhati University for selection for appointment of PwD candidates under the Government of Assam. In this connection, it is clarified that this is completely unwanted and amounts to intervention in the process. The University has done everything as per relevant directive of the Government of Assam. As such, all are requested not to visit the University. If this is not followed, the matter will be reported to appropriate authority for necessary actions. For any unsolicited visit, leading to any untoward incident, the University will not be responsible."

The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam recently had staged a protest in front of the administrative building of the Gauhati University (GU), demanding immediate announcement of error-free results of the special recruitment examination conducted in 2021 by the university for 511 Grade-IV government posts that are reserved for persons with disabilities (PwDs).

The organization alleged that the anomalous result announced by the Gauhati University on April 26 this year merely comprised a list of marks obtained by over 4,000 candidates. Moreover, the university had failed to declare the final, error-free results even though six months have elapsed since then.
