GUWAHATI: In connection with the recovery of the body of Sandeep Bhuyan -- a youth of 29 years -- at Byrnihat on Sunday, the Paltan Bazar Police has detained a girl from Guwahati on Thursday.
Paltan Bazar Police handed her over to Nongpoh Police where a case (case 160/21 u/s 302 IPC) has been registered.
Sources informed that the girl is believed to very close to the deceased. She works in a private hospital in Guwahati. The girl of 22 years hails from Shillong. Further investigation is on.
Mentionably, the body of Sandeep was recovered from the roadside at Byrnihat. There were marks of strangulation on his neck. His bike and mobile were also missing. After recovering the body, Meghalaya police informed all police stations in Assam and Meghalaya. The deceased hails from Majuli. He stayed at Swaraj Nagar near Bagheswari Mandir in the city and worked in the private insurance company at Ulubari. Sandeep was missing since the evening of November 20. In this regard, his family members filed an FIR (First Information Report) in Paltan Bazar Police Station. On Tuesday, Paltan Bazar Police took charge of the body from Nongpoh police and handed over the body to his family members.
