Girl rescued, trafficker  arrested

GUWAHATI July 10: In a swift action carried out in response to a complaint lodged on July 7, the Bharalumukh police rescued a 22-year-old girl from Samastipur district of Bihar and arrested the alleged trafficker who was identified as Rohila Mandal (60).

According police source, the young girl went missing on June 30 from her resident at Atgaon under Bharalumukh ps. After a week-long search, the relatives of the girl lodged an FIR at the Bharalumukh ps on July 7 and accordingly a case (Cae No. 504/18 under section 342/370/511/34) was registered. On receiving the complaint, the police traced the mobile phone network of the victim and found her presence at Samastipur district of Bihar. Immediately, a team of the Bharalumukh police went there and rescued her besides apprehending Rohila.

During interrogation, the victim revealed that the alleged trafficker Rohila Mandal lured her to provide a job at Rajasthan. However, before reaching their destination, the police could intercept their voyage at Samstipur and were safely brought back to Guwahati. Notably, alleged trafficker Rohila is a permanent resident of Bojoynagar, Kamrup. The police source added that two others involved with the trafficking are still absconding and search operation is on to nab them at the earliest.
