GMC to organize 3-day 'Samriddhi Mela' in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will organize a three-day 'Samriddhi Mela' at the Dighalipukhuri Park from March 8 on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The event will be held under the aegis of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM) City Mission Management Unit of the GMC.

According to GMC sources, the main objective of the 'Samriddhi Mela' is to celebrate women empowerment through various initiatives related to sustainable social and economic uplift of women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under DAY-NULM, GMC.

Different cultural and competitive programs will also be conducted in the venue, the sources said.
