Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to scrutinize old structures

GUWAHATI, July 20: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is all set to launch its ‘Rapid Visual Screening (RVS)’ to check the safety and longevity of the old structures in and around the city. The RVS will include schools, colleges and other institutions located in Guwahati. Besides examining safety protocols available in these old structures, the GMC will also launch widespread campaigning among the city residents to aware them on the preventive measures in a regular interval of time. During the RVS, official planners will follow classical method to check the vulnerability level of the old buildings. Focus will be given on the capacity of resistance to big magnetic earthquake.
