GMCH Junior doctors want to hold monthly blood donation week

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Junior Doctors' Association of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) wrote to Health Minister Pijush Hazarika for regular holding of blood donation camps to overcome the crisis. The Association stated that there is an increasing need of stored blood in the GMCH Blood Bank. The doctors' association seeks the Minister's permission to organize Blood Donation Week every month in which students and doctors of GMCH along with various colleges and organizations will volunteer to do the good deed.

"It is necessary to have sufficient units of stored blood in our Blood Bank to ensure prompt availability of blood during emergency blood requisitions of patients. Hence the noble act of donating blood should be promoted amongst everyone, which has the potential to save numerous lives," stated the association in the letter.
