GUWAHATI: The BJP Assam Pradesh has said that the development on all fronts and all strata in society brought about in the State by the BJP government has frustrated the Opposition parties, mainly the Congress. It said that such a frustration has led the Congress to make some baseless allegations against the government.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, State BJP spokesperson Subhas Dutta said, "State government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal worked for the development of all ethnic groups in the State and became very popular among them in the past four-and-a-half years. However, such development works of the State government have snapped the ties of the Opposition parties with the people of the State. Now they are out to get into a huddle to topple the government through a false campaign.

"The head of the government Sarbananda Sonowal and the head of the party Ranjeet Kumar Dass have taken a tough stand against corruption in the State. While the government acted tough on corruption, the party took disciplinary action against an accused member of the party. Such examples were never seen in previous governments in the State.

"In the past four-and-a-half years Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal kept his zero tolerance against corruption intact and acted tough against corruption and corrupt officials. The government put behind bars as many as 70 people, including former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul. Likewise, charge-sheets were issued against 80 officers in the limestone and the national agriculture development scheme scam in the State. The Vigilance and Anti-corruption branch has also sent 69 officials involved in corruption cases to the jail. Of late, in the SI examination scam, 13 people have been arrested and the investigation is going on. The Chief Minister has issued a directive not to allow any of the guilty go scot-free."
