GUWAHATI: The All Asom Goriya Yuva-Chatra Parisad on Wednesday announced that the community will not vote for the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in the forthcoming polls.

The Parisad's president Mokbul Hussain said, "We will not cast our vote to the BJP in 27 constituencies where we have a majority of 43 lakh."

Further, highlighting the BJP's promises made in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Budgets, Hussain said, "Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced in the Budget that the government will set up a Khilanjia Unnayan Nigam. He also announced funds of Rs 100 crore for several developmental projects including construction of Azan Pir Kalakshetra. However, in the last five years the government didn't keep any of its promises. The Goriya Unnayan Parisad which was formed by the Congress was kept functionless by the BJP during its regime. Now due to vote-bank politics, the BJP is claiming that the Goriya Unnayan Parisad has been formed by the party." Hussain also underlined that the Parisad has no connection with the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) due to differences in their philosophies. Further, the Parisad appealed to the CPI (M), CPI (ML), CPI, and Raijor Dal to give party tickets to candidates representing their community.

"People from the Goriya and Moriya communities don't have a single MLA in the Assam Legislative Assembly. Thus, we appeal to the CPI (M), CPI (ML), CPI, Raijor Dal to let us contest for 10 seats in the forthcoming election. We had a great contribution in the formation of the Raijor Dal," Hussain added. Lastly, it appealed to all the political parties to come under one umbrella to root out the BJP from power.
