GUWAHATI: The Asom Goriya Parishad and the All Assam Minority Development Council have extended their support to the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) for the forthcoming polls. The bodies expressed their gratitude to the BJP government for allocating Rs 35 lakh for the functioning of the Goriya Unnayan Parishad.
"After 74 years of independence, the former government of Assam didn't take any initiative for the welfare of the indigenous Muslims. On the other hand, the saffron party on February 17 allocated Rs 35 lakh for the functioning of the Goriya Unnayan Parishad. We appreciate the decision taken by the ruling government and in the forthcoming Assembly polls, 30 lakh people from the Goriya Moriya community will support the BJP," said Asom Goriya Parishad president Abdul Hamid while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.
"Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal we got this Goriya Unnayan Parishad in a true manner," Hamid added.
