Government Railway Police seized heroin, ganja at Guwahati Railway Station

GUWAHATI: The Government Railway Police has recovered 750 grams of heroin and 11 kilograms of ganja during two separate routine checks at the Guwahati Railway Station on Monday.

A person named Abdul Majid has been arrested with the heroin, who was carrying the substance in soap cases. Majid, a resident of Manipur, boarded the Down Kamrup Express in Dimapur and was traveling to Bengaluru via Howrah. A case no – 40/2020 under section 21 (B) NDPS Act -- has been registered in this regard. Meanwhile, the GRP personnel recovered the ganja from two trolley bags which were kept at Coach No. A of Down Rajdhani Express. A case – 39/2020 -- has been registered under section 20 (B) of the NDPS Act.
