Governor Jagdish Mukhi, CM Sarbananda Sonowal greet people on New Year

GUWAHATI: Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal greeted the people of the State on the eve of the New Year. In statement issued from the Raj Bhawan, the Governor conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all the people on New Year 2021.

Prof Mukhi said, "…I hope this New Year ushers in renewed peace and expedites progress to the entire nation. May the days ahead fortify our harmonious co-existence and strengthen the bond of universal brotherhood. I, moreover, hope that the New Year enables us to work with more commitment for a developed Assam based on the foundation of our rich culture, language and ethnicity. May the Almighty bless us all to remain active in our thoughts and actions and help each other to remain healthy".

While expressing his gratitude to the people of Assam for giving his government the opportunity to serve the state for the last four and half years, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the due to the continued support and cooperation of the people the present State Government could fulfill the promises it gave while coming to power and hoped that Assam would continue to make great strides towards peace, prosperity and development in the coming year as well.

Referring to challenges like COVID-19 that confronted humanity across the world, Sonowal, in a statement, expressed optimism that the coming year would bring happiness and prosperity to all sections of the society and strengthen the bond of unity and brotherhood among the people cutting across divides of cast, creed and religion.

Transport, Skill and Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has also extended warm New Year greetings to the people of Assam.

In a statement, the Minister said, "May the New Year bring new hopes, achievements and lots of happiness and good health to one and all. I also wish that the New Year 2021 bestow progress and prosperity to our state and to our people."

AGP president and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora also wished the people of the State and expressed his hope that the New Year would bring a new era of development in Assam.

In a statement issued to the media, BJP Assam Pradesh president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said, "The Assamese with self-respect will weave atmonirbhor Asom on the foundation of development laid Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led government. I hope the New Year will ensure growth and development in the State."

In another statement, AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal said, "I hope the New Year will bring us peace, harmony and fraternity."
