Gulab Chand Kataria condoled demise of former Assam Governor Lt.Gen. Ajay Singh

 GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria condoled the demise of former Governor of Assam Lt.Gen. Ajay Singh who breathed his last on Tuesday.

In a message, Governor Kataria said, “I am deeply hurt by the death of former Governor of Assam Lt.Gen. Ajay Singh who served the state with deep commitment. His death is a great loss. Assam was indeed fortunate to have had such a leader at its helm, who served the state with honour and distinction.”

“Though no words will suffice to express my grief on his death, I wholeheartedly pray to the Almighty for eternal peace of late Lt.Gen. Ajay Singh ji. His wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. My sincere condolences to the bereaved family,” the Governor added.

Officers and staff of Raj Bhavan observed two-minute silence in the memory and honour of Lt. Gen. Ajay Singh and prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also condoled the death of former Assam Governor Lt. General Ajay Singh. In a statement, the Chief Minister said, “It is really sad to have lost a former Governor who contributed immensely to the development of our state. A veteran of the 1965 and 1971 wars, I recollect Lt General’s Singh’s illustrious military career and invaluable contribution to the state and nation. His demise is a great loss.” He also prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
