Guwahati : 755 road accidents reported in 2023

GUWAHATI: As many as 267 people died due to road accidents in Guwahati in 2023, which is slightly more compared to the previous years; 253 died in 2022 and 248 died in 2021. According to the police, a total of 755 road accident cases were reported in Guwahati in 2023, which is slightly less than previous years; 768 road accidents in 2022 and 795 road accidents in 2023 were reported. On the other hand, Guwahati Police collected Rs 47,04,84,500 as fines under the MV Act in 2023, which is higher compared to the other years. Guwahati Police collected Rs 4,60,13,850 as fines in 2019, Rs 4,05,28,500 in 2020, Rs 12,63,61,400 in 2021, and Rs 37,09,89,700 in 2022.
