Guwahati based businessman donates Rs 2 cr for fight against coronavirus

GUWAHATI: Anand Kumar Jain, a Guwahati based businessman and social activist has donated Rs 2 crore for fight against coronavirus.

Until yesterday, Assam Arogya Nidhi had collected Rs 24.63 crore so far. People can donate towards the fund the money from which will be utilised to fight coronavirus battle in the state.

The Pub Guwahati Bihu Sanmilan has extended an amount of Rs. 50,000 to the Assam Arogya Nidhi, to fight against the outbreak of coronavirus. The amount was contributed through the Kamrup (Metro) DC (Deputy Commissioner).

Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) donated Rs. 10 lakh to the Assam Arogya Nidhi on Monday as its commitment to stand by the people of Assam in their fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The cheque of the said amount was handed over to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam's Health Minister.

Honouring the appeal of the government for generous support in view of COVID-19 outbreak, the octogenarian Xatradhikar of Mayamora Dinjay Xatra and also a former teacher, Jugadananda Dev Goswami donated his one month's pension of Rs 21,000 to Assam Arogya Nidhi. He handed over the cheque to Sanjay Kishan, Minister of State for Labour, at a solemn programme held at TMB Tinsukia on Monday.
