Guwahati: After the detection of COVID-19 positive cases the entire Block D of the Senior Officer's Colony at Khanapara in Guwahati city of Kamrup (M) district in Assam has been declared as a Containment Zone on Monday, July 13.

Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, who is also the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority has directed the Circle Officer of the Dispur Revenue Circle to seal the area immediately to break the chain of transmission of the virus.

The DC has ordained that any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified Containment Zone is barred till the area is declared "safe" as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The order has been made under the regulations "The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020" and any violation of the order will attract action under the provisions of "The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020", "The Disaster Management Act, 2005", "The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897", and other relevant laws of the nation.

This order has been made at a time when the number of COVID-19 cases in Guwahati has been increasing at a steady and alarming rate.
