GUWAHATI: In view of the detection of COVID-19 positive students, the Kamrup Metro District Administration has directed the authorities of NPS International School, Betkuchi and Jatiya Vidyalaya, Noonmati to close the schools for the next seven days.

The district administration has directed the Circle Officer of Dispur Revenue Circle to seal the areas immediately with effect from Monday.

Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified areas has been prohibited.

The order is made under the regulations – 'The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020' and shall be effective from Monday, April 19 till April 25.

Further, authorities of both the schools have been asked to attend the COVID-19 test for the teaching staff and other students as and when carried out by the team deputed by the Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup Metropolitan District. For this purpose, the Principals of both the schools will arrange a separate place outside the school campuses.

Any violation of the order will attract action under the provision of the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020; Disaster Management Act, 2005; The Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and other relevant laws of the nation, said Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu.
