Guwahati Cop Who Stood in the Rain to Manage Traffic at Basistha Chariali felicitated by Commissioner of Police

Guwahati: Commissioner of Police Deepak Kumar on Tuesday felicitated traffic police constable Mithun Das for his bravery and presence of mind while managing the traffic on a busy road and standing boldly amid heavy rain in an uncovered podium on last Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar said, “I am extremely over-whelmed to see such kind police officials in our department. On that day, he not only showed his bravery but also showed his presence of mind to tackle the situation. If he would have gone down to get his raincoat, there would have been a massive traffic jam due to heavy rain in the city. Since one cannot predict rain and weather condition, it was unfortunate that he was not carrying a raincoat with him during that situation. His approach and dedication had bought laurels to the police department and I really appreciate his work and dedication towards duty.”

Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar also appreciated and applauded other traffic police officials of Assam Police Department for their immense dedication on their duty hours on different weather conditions.

It is to be noted that traffic police official Mithun hails from Karbi Anglong district and joined Assam Police in 2015.
