GUWAHATI: BJP MP Queen Oja while casting her vote at Lachit Nagar polling station for Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections had to face the wrath of the public.

Notably, the BJP MP was questioned regarding the garbage system, drainages etc. which remained dirty for days till the day of the election.

Upon reacting to the complaints, MP Queen Oja immediately called the officials of GMC and directed to immediately clean the garbage and drains of the locality.

Following her phone call, the GMC workers immediately cleaned the roads along with the garbage of the locality on the day of the election.

Further, the MP also urged the public to keep the roads and their respective areas clean.

On the other hand, West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita while casting his vote for GMC elections said that "It is quite natural that people are a bit dissatisfied as the areas and population have increased in the state capital. With the increasing numbers of population and areas, citizens faced problems of drinking water, drainage system etc. but the problems will be solved now with the election being held after 9 years."

The BJP has already won three wards unopposed, meaning that polling will be held for the remaining 57 wards. It had given its ally, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) seven seats to contest.
