Guwahati Frontier BSF distributes ration to poor amid lockdown due to COVID-19

GUWAHATI: After announcement and implementation of lockdown to break the chain of deadly Coronavirus for the well-being of Border population and to mitigate the problems of the labour class and who have been effected by the lockdown due to COVID-19, the Guwahati Frontier BSF has been endeavoring to reach out to needy people in its area of responsibility.

Guwahati Frontier BSF has always remained on the forefront to help the needy during the hour of crisis and national calamities. As the lockdown is necessary to break the chain of coronavirus, the people who are most affected by the lockdown are being provided with the free ration at their door stops. Troops of Guwahati Frontier have reached the needy and distributes ration who are struggling for a square meal during the lockdown.

On Saturday, Seema Prahari of Guwahati Frontier BSF took initiative and selfless efforts in reaching out to the Border population during challenging circumstances to distribute grocery items to the needy people of village Satbhandari and East Sitai, PS- Sitai, Distt- Coochbehar (WB). A total number of 80 families received the ration items. The relief material which has been distributed among the needy includes rice, potato, edible oil, pulses, turmeric, onion and salt. In addition to this soap was also provided to wash hands. The border population lauded the BSF for providing timely help to border people during an hour of crisis.

It is worthwhile to mention that the Guwahati Frontier BSF team is following the norms set by WHO as well as the Government of India to counter the COVID -19. During the distribution of ration, they also briefed the villagers about preventing measures to contain the spread of the virus. The Border Security Force is dedicated for the Security of Border of India as well as protection of border population as its guided principle and ethos.
