GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident involved in outraging a girl's modesty, a masked motorcyclist tried to molest a young girl on the pretext of asking for directions from her.
According to a video of the incident that went viral, the man tried to grope the girl at a bye lane in a residential area in Guwahati. What's more shocking is that, the entire fiasco happened during broad daylight on Saturday.
In a video that has gone viral and doing the rounds on social media, it has been seen that the girl is trying to fight off the alleged molester as he tried to molest and grope her. The girl who seems like a commuter is heard saying, "This man tried to grope me. He came near to me asking directions for reaching Chinaki Path, I replied to him twice but yet he tried to come closer and ask again. He came near and tried to grope me."
The video further shows that while the culprit was trying to run away, the girl showing bravado managed to nab him. She then pushed the motorbike of the culprit near a drain beside the bylane as he was imbalanced which trying to speed off.
The accused man in the video has been seen wearing a face mask and helmet which he eventually had to remove after a crowd of angry locals gathered near him. The girl later informed the police about the incident.
"No girl is safe in Guwahati these days because of lecherous scoundrels like you, but as I dared to teach you a lesson today, one day every girl would do the same and that would be the end for people like you," the video showed the girl saying this. She also compelled the man to kneel down as a punishment for the misdemeanor he showed.
Acting upon the viral video, the Dispur police arrested the accused man who tried to manhandle the girl in Rukmini Nagar. Guwahati Police today tweeted, "With ref. to the heinous incident of assault in Rukmini Nagar under Dispur PS - FIR 2719/21 has been registered, the accused arrested & forwarded. The case will be brought to its logical conclusion & justice served. We are committed to the safety & security of our citizens."
