Guwahati: GMC Seals 11 Shops In Dispur Supermarket For Non-Payment Of Rent

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation's (GMC) Enforcement branch on Wednesday sealed eleven shops at the Dispur supermarket area of Guwahati for non-payment of room rent.

Most of the shop owners in the locality have reportedly not made the payment of their room rent for a long time even after receiving repeated notices from GMC.

In a recent drive by the concerned officials, some of these shop owners in the Dispur area had faced interruption in their businesses following the seal of their rented establishments.

On Thursday 10 March, the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) had sealed a total of 11 shops at the Guwahati's Dispur Supermarket location for not paying room rent.

The Enforcement Branch in association with the GMC Market Branch conducted a drive at the area along with the city police officials.

Eleven shops operating in the GMC Market of Dispur without payment of room rent were sealed after the drive as they skipped a long period of time for payment of rent to the corporation.

Not just did the shop owners skip the rent but they also failed to respond to the multiple notices sent by GMC as informed by the corporation through an official notification on Thursday.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation released a notification sharing information about the shop number and establishments sealed in the Dispur Supermarket area following the drive on Thursday.

Here is the list of shop numbers sealed and their sealing name:

1. Utpal Sutradhar- Shop No. 20

2. Nilima Rabha and Others- Shop No. C-80

3. Rajib Adhikary- Shop No. A-12

4. Lily Pathak- Shop No. 28

5. Pabitra Sarmah- Shop No. C-7

6. Krishna Kanta Dutta- Shop No. 12

7. Madan Mahanta- Shop No. 10

8. Assam Co-op Society- Shop No.08

9. Sita Ram Thakur- Shop No. 01

10. Ramesh Sarmah- Shop No. 02

11. Pabitra Patowary- Shop No. 16

12. G.C. Saha- Shop No. 07

13. Uddhab Barman- Shop No. 24
