Guwahati International Airport Ltd gets Aerodrome License

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati International Airport Ltd officially received the Aerodrome License for the Guwahati Airport on Friday, December 9. This license authorizes Guwahati International Airport Ltd to use the aerodrome as a public airport in the country.

The Aerodrome License was formally accepted by the Chief Airport Officer of Guwahati International Airport Ltd., Utpal Baruah. The Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Arun Kumar formally handed over the document to Utpal Baruah at an event in New Delhi on December 9, 2022.

"This license authorizes the aerodrome to be used as regular place of landing and departure to all persons on equal terms and conditions for operation by aircraft requiring specifications of runway and associated facilities including granted exemptions equal to or less than those indicated in the Aerodrome Manual, subject to the conditions as contained in schedule-I and for a period as shown in Schedule-ll hereto," mentioned the order.

"The license is liable to be suspended/ modified/ withdrawn/ and/or any limitations or conditions may be imposed, if any violation of the provisions of the Aircraft Act 1934, Aircraft Rules 1937, or any orders/ directions/ requirements issued under the said Act, rules or of the limitations or conditions as in schedule-l are observed," it added.

Guwahati International Airport Limited is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Adani Group created for the development and maintenance of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. It had taken over the administration of the biggest airport in Northeast India from October 8 2021 following a Concession Agreement between the parties on January 19 of the same year. The Airport Authority of India handed over the Operation, Management and Development to Guwahati International Airport Ltd on a lease for fifty years in accordance with the concession agreement. This step was taken to develop the facility in a Public Private Partnership Model.
