Guwahati: Man arrested for physical assault on woman

GUWAHATI: A man has been arrested by Odalbakra Police for mercilessly assaulting a woman in the middle of the road in the Kahilipara locality of the city. The incident took place in the Lutuma area of Kahilipara on Saturday, was captured on video, and later went viral, sparking outrage and drawing condemnation from across multiple circles on the social media platforms. The accused, identified as Arup Sarma, a shopkeeper, allegedly assaulted the woman.

The video shows Arup Sarma repeatedly punching and kicking the woman, who is struggling to defend herself. The police took action only after the video went viral, arresting Arup Sarma and initiating a case against him.
