Guwahati Municipal Corporation carries out cleanliness drive in city

GUWAHATI: After immersion of Durga idols, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has carried out a massive cleanliness drive to clean five river ghats in the city on Saturday.

More than 300 idols of Goddess Durga were immersed in five ghats –Kachamari, Pandughat, Kharghuli, Sunsalighat and Jyotikuchighat on Friday and Saturday.

However, the drive cannot be carried out at Pandughat as the immersion programme was going on Saturday.

GMC sources said the authorities will carry out another drive at Pandughat on Sunday.
