Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Appeals Not to Pay Parking Fees Except These 9 Locations

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has fixed 9 parking places in the city from where only it collects parking fees.

Appealing to the people not to pay fees in all parking places except these 9, GMC commissioner Debasish Sarma said that the state government has taken strict steps against the people who collect fees from parking places not designated by the Corporation.

Sarma said that the owners of the vehicles pay parking fees only 9 parking places in the city while parking.

These 9 parking places include the Adabari Bus terminus, the parking place beneath the Ganeshguri Overbridge, Dr JC Road (Fancy Bazar), Cotton Collegiate Road, RP Road, HB Road, Near Sikh Mandir, Fancy Bazar, HB Road (Pan Bazar) and the parking place beneath the Bhangagarh Overbridge.

The GMC Commissioner appealed to the people not to pay parking vehicle fees in all the parking places.

"There are only 9 parking places the GMC collects parking fees. If anyone collects vehicle fees other than these places, the people can file complaints. We have opened 4 numbers for the purpose," said he.

He added that the GMC registered a complaint against a person who collected parking fees illegally at GS Road. He also appealed to the people not to pay parking fees at the Guwahati shopping malls.
