Guwahati Municipal Corporation to issue I-cards to street vendors

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to issue identity cards to all street vendors of the city.

According to GMC sources, there are around 14,000 street vendors in the city and identity cards will be given to them before March 31.

The identity cards will be given in accordance with the Street Vendors Act, 2014 after a survey is carried out.

An SOP will be also published in this regard, the sources said. According to the sources, identity cards were issued to 100 to 105 vendors in 2015 and these cards will also be reviewed now.
