GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will soon launch a mobile app to enable residents of the city to register complaints regarding abuse of street dogs.

According to GMC sources, there are around 40,000 street dogs in the city. Between 2009 and now, the GMC has arranged for Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) procedures on more than 25,000 dogs. The GMC has engaged an NGO named JBF (Just Be Friendly) to carry out these procedures, which cost Rs 1,500 each.
